Biography
2009: Started in 47 of the 49 games she appeared...she saw most of her time in the outfield and at third base and had a .921 fielding percentage...she hit .264 in 110 at-bats with a pair of doubles and triples...she drove in eight runs while scoring 14...she drew nine walks and had an on-base percentage of .328...she was third on the team in steals with four and had four sacrifice hits...Porterfield hit at nearly a .500 clip against left-handed pitching going 6-for-13...she also had three two out RBIs...she had six multi-hit games and went a season-high 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs in the win at Illinois-Springfield on April 18.
2008: Started in 17 of the 36 games she appeared in…saw the bulk of her playing time in the outfield where she posted a 1.000 fielding percentage…batted .143 in 42 at-bats with three runs batted in…had two of her RBI in the second game victory at Bellarmine…scored seven runs during the season…NFCA scholar-athlete.
2007: Moved into the starting lineup around the first of April and started the Lady Miners’ last 25 games in left field...finished the season with a .259 batting average and two runs batted in, one of which came during the regional win over Lewis...had five doubles on the season as well as a stolen base...had six multiple-hit games on the season...had three hits in eight at-bats in a twinbill sweep at Lincoln with a run batted in…named to the NFCA All-America scholar-athlete team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Maine South High School, where she earned all-conference honors…was also named as a scholar-athlete at her school…played the outfield and three infield positions.
PERSONAL: Daughter of James and Sharon Porterfield...majoring in civil engineering.
