Biography
2011: NCAA Division II qualifier in the long jump during the outdoor season and placed 14th at the national meet…earned first-team All-GLVC honors during the outdoor campaign…had a top mark of 24-5 at LSU during the season…won the GLVC outdoor championship in the long jump with a mark of 23-7 ½ and added a third place showing in the triple jump…also had S&T’s top performance in the triple jump of 47-3 ¾ at the LSU meet…scored for the Miners in the high jump at the GLVC Outdoor Championships with a clearance of 6-0 ¾ that placed him eighth…finished the indoor season with top performances of 23-2 in the long jump, 46-2 in the triple jump and 5-10 ¾ in the high jump…was second in the triple jump and third in the GLVC in the long jump at the league’s indoor championships…named to the All-GLVC second team in the indoor season.
2010: Recorded finishes of fourth in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump at the GLVC Indoor Championships...had top marks during the indoor season of 22-1 1/2 in the long jump at the GLVC meet and 44-7 in the triple jump...took fifth in the long jump at the GLVC Outdoor Championships with a mark of 22-11 1/4...made a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships during the season with a leap of 23-7 1/2.
2009: Had a strong freshman season in the jumps for the Miners...earned second-team All-GLVC honors following both the indoor and outdoor seasons...had second place finishes in the indoor triple jump (top mark of 43-11 1/4) and outdoor long jump (22-10 3/4), while taking third in the outdoor triple jump (44-9) and fourth in the indoor long jump (22-7 1/4)...best indoor triple jump mark of 44-1 1/4 came at Missouri Southern, while the top long jump effort outdoors of 22-11 3/4 occurred at Emporia State a week after the conference meet.
HIGH SCHOOL: Posted a mark of 22-2 in the long jump last season after going 22-6 as a junior…placed seventh in the long jump at the 2007 Missouri Class 4 state meet and qualified again as a senior…also competed in the high jump and cleared six feet in the event during the 2007 season.
PERSONAL: Son of Robin V. Norise and Peter J. Thomas, Sr. …attended Webster Groves High School…majoring in electrical engineering.
