Biography
2010: Earned a spot on the All-GLVC team for the second year in succession...was part of the Miners' 4x100-meter relay team that captured the GLVC outdoor title...also finished second in the 200-meters with a time of 21.69 seconds, just off his best time of the year of 21.68...took fourth in the 100-meters with a top mark of 10.74 seconds...finished sixth in the 55-meters in 6.61 seconds at the league's indoor meet...had a seasonal-best 6.53 seconds in the 55-meters, 6.99 in the 60-meters and 22.29 seconds in the 200 during the indoor campaign.
2009: Earned first-team All-GLVC honors after finishing as the conference runner-up in the 100-meter dash...posted a time of 10.88 seconds in the finals a day after setting his season-best mark of 10.68 in the preliminaries...also finished fifth in the 200-meters in 22.27 seconds, his best mark of the outdoor season...had top indoor times of 6.73 seconds in the 550-meters, 7.32 in the 60-meters and 23.77 seconds in the 200-meters during the indoor campaign.
2008: Had a solid freshman season for the Miners in the sprints…was part of the Miners’ 4x200-meter relay team that came in fourth place at the GLVC Indoor Championships…posted times of 6.76 in the 55-meters, 7.27 in the 60-meters and 23.33 in the 200 during the indoor campaign…best outdoor times were 11.01 in the 100-meters and 22.74 in the 200, both posted at Washington University.
HIGH SCHOOL:Was named as the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools as the Class 6A "Male Athlete of the Year" for the 2007 school year…won the state title in the 200-meters as a senior and anchored the 4x100- and 4x200-meter relay teams to record performances at the state meet…was a three-time state finalist...was a state medalist in two sprint relays and the 200-meter dash during the 2006 season after winning district titles in all three events…in 2005, he was a finalist in the 200-meters as well as the two sprint relays, while winning district titles in the 100-meters in 2004 and 200-meters as a sophomore…also won district titles as part of his school's 4x100- and 4x200-meter relay teams…was a recipient of the Central Catholic Marianist diploma for his academic performance.
PERSONAL: Son of Roger and Joan Vessell...father is a Missouri S&T graduate who played on the Miners' 1975-76 men's basketball team that won the MIAA championship...older brother, Ryan, is a senior on the 2007 Miner squad…attended Central Catholic High School…majoring in biology.
