Biography
2010: Competed at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships as part of S&T's 4x400-meter relay...was a member of the GLVC outdoor champions in the event to earn all-conference honors...posted top outdoor times of 50.03 in the 400-meters and 1:56.35 in the 800...had marks of 24.07 seconds in the 200-meters, 52.19 in the 400 and 1:57.37 in the 800-meters during the indoor campaign.
2009: Earned All-GLVC honors in the middle distance events...earned his awards in the 800-meters in both seasons, as he finished as the conference runner-up at both league meets...posted a top time of 1:53.81 during the indoor season at a meet at Iowa State, while his best outdoor 800 mark was 1:54.07 late in the year...also ran in the 400-meter event outdoors, posting a best mark of 50.34 seconds, while recording a 1:14.43 in the indoor 600-yard run which was the best mark by a Miner in 2009.
2008: Was a co-recipient of the GLVC’s “Freshman of the Year” award for the outdoor season…won the conference title in the 800-meters at the GLVC Outdoor Championships with a winning time of 1:57.22…finished fifth in the indoor mile with a time of 4:26.41 at the GLVC Championships after posting a seasonal-best 4:24.10 earlier in the year…set the school record in the indoor 800-meters with a time of 1:53.95 at Iowa State…also had the team’s top outdoor 800 mark of 1:55.14 set at the home invitational in April…ran a 4:09.90 in the 1,500-meters and a 50.42 in the 400-meters.
HIGH SCHOOL: Won state titles in the 800-meters in 1:57.35 and 1,600-meters in 4:27.13 and was also part of two state championship relay teams (4x400 and 4x800) at the Missouri Class 1 meet...finished as the state runner-up in the 1,600 in his sophomore year...in cross country, finished sixth at the Missouri Class 1 state championships with a time of 17:46 after finishing as the runner-up in 2006 in 17:07 and fourth in his freshman year...holder of the Missouri state record in the 400-meters with a time of 49.66 seconds.
PERSONAL: Son of Brian and Brenda Etzold...attended Saxony Lutheran High School...majoring in engineering.
