Biography
2019: Took second place in the 800-meters at the GLVC Outdoor Championships…also took third in that event during the GLVC’s indoor meet…was part of the 4x400-meter relay teams that took third in both conference meets…fastest indoor times of the season were of 50.14 seconds in the 400-meters and 1:52.58 in the 800-meters, the best by a Miner in both events…had team-best marks in those events in the outdoor season as well of 51.49 seconds in the 400 and 1:53.77 in the 800.
2018: Was part of S&T’s winning team in the 4x400-meter relay at the GLVC Outdoor Championships that helped the Miners clinch the team championships…also finished eighth in the 400-meters at the GLVC outdoor meet…posted best outdoor times of 49.51 seconds in the 400-meters and 1:58.32 in the 800-meters…recorded times of 51.69 seconds in the 400-meters and 1:56.47 in the 800-meters during the indoor campaign.
2017: Recorded a sixth place finish in the indoor 400-meters and outdoor 800-meters at the GLVC Championships…also had a fifth place finish as part of the 4x400-meter relay team…had a top outdoor time of 1:54.55 in the 800-meters and top indoor marks of 51.04 seconds in the 400-meters and 1:56.32 in the 800-meters.
PERSONAL: Son of Gene and Jennifer Staples…attended Oak Park River Forest High School…majoring in mechanical engineering at Missouri S&T.
