Biography
2022-23: Competed in three events at the NCAA Division II Championships (200-yard breaststroke and both individual medley events)...finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:59.53 and seventh in the 400-yard individual medley at the GLVC Championships with a season-best time of 3:58.30...was also 12th in the 100-breaststroke at the GLVC meet...was part of the 200- and 400-medley relay teams that scored at the GLVC Championships...had top marks of 1:59.08 in the 200-backstroke, 55.95 in the 100-breaststroke and 1:50.95 in the 200-IM.
2021-22: Competed in the 100-yard breaststroke with the second-fastest time of 55.70, the 200-yard breaststroke also the second-fastest time with a 1:59.32, and swam a 1:51.33 in the 200-yard individual medley at the GLVC tournament… Recorded a 3:56.42 at Nationals tournament in the 400-yard individual medley, earning his first All-American award by finishing 16th.
2020-21: Posted a seventh place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke at the GLVC Championships, where he recorded a top seasonal time of 2:01.92...also finished 12th in the 400-yard individual medley, 14th in the 100-yard breaststroke and 15th in the 200-IM at the conference meet...top times during the season included marks of 56.06 seconds in the 100-breaststroke, 1:50.93 in the 200-IM and 4:00.30 in the 400-IM; reached the NCAA Division II B-cut standard in both individual medley events.
2019-20: Scored in three events at the GLVC Championships...finished fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke, where he had a season-best time of 1:59.94...also placed 11th in the 400-yard individual medley and scored in the 200-IM...best time of the year in the 200-individual medley was 1:51.65, while his best time in the 400-IM was 3:58.88.
PERSONAL: Son of Alan and Becky Mercer…competed at Whitefield Academy, where he competed for the Cool Swim Club in Overland Park, Kan….finished seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke on a long course in 1:06 at the 2019 Speedo Champions Series, while also taking seventh in the 200-breaststroke in 2:26.75…earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-America honors…majoring in civil engineering at Missouri S&T.
