Biography
2024-25: Earned four All-America awards in the 200-yard breaststroke, the 200-yard butterfly and the 200 and 400-IM…at the NCAA Championships, he finished second in the 400-yard IM, fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke, eighth in the 200-yard IM and 12th in the 200-yard butterfly…broke three school records in 2024-25 in each the the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:45.37, the 400-yard IM with a time of 3:47.42 and the 200-yard butterfly, clocking in at 1:45.85…member of the 800-yard freestyle relay that earned third place at the GLVC Championships…named to the CSC Academic All-District team.
2023-2024: Selected as the S&T Men’s Student Athlete of the Year; earned GLVC Swimmer of the Week on 12/20/23; earned 5 All-America honors at the NCAA Championships…finishing in 5th place in the 400 IM, 7th place in the 200 IM, 9th place in the 200 Fly with a best time of 1:46.63, 9th place in the 200 Breast with a best time of 1:56.91, and 8th place in the 800 Free Relay... breaking the school record with a time of 6:30.69; Bichsel broke his own school record in the 400 IM at the GLVC Championships with a time of 3:48.75 where he finished in 2nd place, broke the school record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:45.80 with a 2nd place finish, came in 4th place in the 200 Breast, 7th place in the 200 Fly, and 4th place in the 800 Free Relay…member of the GLVC All-Academic Team.
2022-23: Named as the GLVC's Freshman of the Year and earned All-America honors in the 400-yard individual medley with a 14th place finish in a time of 3:54.21...set the school record in the event at the GLVC Championships with a time of 3:51.66, where he finished second overall...also placed third at the GLVC meet in the 200-IM in 1:47.80 and sixth in the 200-breaststroke, where his best time was 1:59.82...won the consolation final in the 200-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 1:49.05...member of GLVC All-Academic team.
PERSONAL: Son of Brian and Leesa Bichsel...competed at Lee's Summit West High School, where he competed on a team that finished second at the Missouri Class 2 state championships in 2021...was the state champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and also part of the 200-medley relay and 200-freestyle relay teams that captured state titles in his senior year...also finished third in the 200-yard individual medley...earned All-America status as part of the two relay teams...was a Speedo Junior Nationals qualifier on three occasions (summer of 2021 and 2022 and winter 2021)...named as a USA Scholastic All-America selection in 2021 and 2022 and All-America Academic team in 2022...majoring in mechanical engineering at Missouri S&T.
