2021-22: Competed in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a top time of 21.39 at the GLVC tournament (2/9)... Posted a 46.40 in the 100-yard freestyle as well as a top time of 1:40.47 in the 200-yard freestyle at GLVC competition…Named to GLVC Academic All-Conference.

2020-21: Was part of the Miners' 800-yard freestyle relay team that finished fourth at the GLVC Championships...team recorded its fastest time of the season in that meet of 6:35.48...also competed in the sprint freestyle events with top times of 21.32 in the 50-yard freestyle, 46.17 in the 100-free, 1:40.00 in the 200-free and 5:02.18 in the 500-freestyle.

2019-20: Competed in the sprint freestyle events...posted top times of 21.48 in the 50-yard freestyle, 46.59 in the 100-freestyle and 1:43.25 in the 200-free.

2018-19: Competed in the sprint freestyle events during his freshman season...had top times of 21.63 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, 46.86 in the 100-freestyle and 1:44.91 in the 200-freestyle.

PERSONAL: Son of Garth and Juli Akal…competed at Alton High School, where he was a state qualifier and team most valuable player…competed in the sprint freestyle events, where he had top times of 21.93 in the 50 and 48.19 in the 100…competed in those two events at the Illinois State Championships in 2018 and as part of the 200-medley relay and 200-freestyle relay teams…majoring in computer engineering at Missouri S&T.
