Hank Lewis

  • Title
    Assistant Soccer Coach
Hank Lewis rejoins the Missouri S&T soccer program this fall as the assistant coach for the men’s program and will also serve as the goalkeeper coach for the Lady Miner soccer team.  Lewis brings a wealth of experience of training goalkeepers to S&T, as he has worked with teams at all three NCAA levels as well as with teams in the Bahamas that have competed in World Cup and Olympic qualifying tournaments.

Lewis comes to S&T after serving on the Stevens staff as an assistant coach during the 2010 season and a brief stint as interim head coach prior to the 2011 season.  In 2010, Stevens won the Empire 8 Conference regular season and tournament championships and finished ranked 21st in NCAA Division III.  The team was one of only two in the nation to boast three All-America performers that season.

“We are fortunate Hank has decided to join our staff,” said Miner head coach Joe Ahearn.  “He will provide a valuable resource to the Missouri S&T soccer programs on and off the field.  Hank is a good person, a student of the game and takes a lot pride in his work.  He has helped produce All-America goalkeepers at Colgate, Missouri S&T, and Stevens .”

From 2007 through 2009, Lewis designed the Miners’ off-season training for the goalies and also led the pre-season training at that position.

Lewis has also served as an assistant coach at Colgate University working alongside Ahearn, an assistant on that school’s staff at the time and as a volunteer assistant coach at Washington College and Galludet University.

Lewis also has gained a wealth of experience with club teams, most recently as head coach with the Colorado Fusion Soccer Club in Denver, an Adidas Alliance partner of the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer.  Lewis also had a head coaching sting with U18B Pumas in New Jersey and with the Bears Football Club in the New Providence Football League in the Bahamas.

He has a national diploma and distinguished pass from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and a B coaching license from the Bahamas Football Association, for whom he served as an assistant coach for the nation’s Under-15 men’s national team from 2000-03 and head of goalkeeper operations for the last two years of that tenure.
