Gabe Hall enters his fifth season as the head coach of the men's soccer program at Missouri S&T and is looking to keep moving the Miners forward after a season where they recorded their highest finish in the GLVC standings in six years in 2016.
The Miners finished second in the standings for the 2016 campaign and was in the regional rankings throughout the year as they ended the year with a 10-3-6 overall record and 9-1-5 mark in the GLVC. That performance earned the Miners a home game in the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament for the second straight year.
S&T also posted its first win over a team ranked in the top five nationally since 2011 when it knocked off fifth-ranked Rockhurst late in the year, a win that came over a team that would eventually reach the NCAA Division II national semifinals.
The Miners finished fourth in the GLVC in 2015 with their highest win total since 2011 and won their opening round game in the conference tournament by winning a penalty kick shootout over Saint Joseph's to advance. S&T eventually fell to national semifinalist Rockhurst in the next round.
S&T has made the GLVC Tournament in all three seasons under Hall and has finished with a .500 or better record in all three years both overall and in GLVC play. S&T's fourth place finish last season was its best since the 2010 campaign.
Hall joined the S&T staff prior to the 2013 season after serving as an assistant coach at the University of Dayton for two seasons and was an assistant at two schools in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Hall spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons on the staff at Dayton, helping the team to an 11-5-2 recordin 2012 and a top 25 ranking at the Division I level during the season.
He was involved in the planning, organizing and running of the team’s training sessions, as well as the evaluating and recruiting of student-athletes to the program. He also served as the co-director for the Flyer Soccer Academy that served over 700 youth players annually.
The Flyers also received the NSCAA’s Team Academic Award and won the “Flyer Challenge”, a community service competition among the athletic teams at the university.
Prior to joining the Dayton program, Hall served as the Director of Coaching for the Roseburg Soccer Association in Roseburg, Ore. At the RSA he oversaw the development of over 1,000 players by creating age appropriate curriculum and training sessions. He was also instrumental in the development of new coaching programs and managing a staff of nearly 100 coaches.
Hall was also an assistant at New Mexico for the 2008 and 2009 seasons, where the Lobos amassed a record of 20-11-2, including a top 25 ranking, and placed six players on all-conference teams and two on the NSCAA Far West All-Region Team. Hall was responsible for monitoring the team’s academic progress. During his tenure the Lobos achieved the NSCAA Team Academic Award and had two Capital One Academic All-American selections.
In addition to his work monitoring the team’s academics, Hall planned and ran training sessions for the reserve players to develop their tactical and technical capabilities. He also prepared scouting reports and broke down game film for the Lobos. Hall coordinated team travel and was also the Assistant Coordinator of the Lobo Soccer Academy.
Prior to his work at New Mexico, Hall spent one season as the assistant coach for the men’s and women’s soccer teams at the University of Indianapolis, where he helped his squad break school records for goals against average and shutouts. He was also responsible for recruiting prospective athletes and planning and running training sessions for the Greyhounds. Hall also served as the first assistant at the University of Southern Indiana for the 2006 season.
Hall also brings ties to a number of soccer clubs and Olympic Development Program’s. His most recent coaching experience is with the Oregon ’96 Olympic Development Team. Prior to his stint in Oregon, he also worked with the New Mexico and Indiana Olympic Development Programs as a coach. Hall has also coached the Rio Vista Football club as well as the Carmel United Soccer Club and the Evansville Elite.
A 2004 graduate of San Francisco State University, Hall earned his bachelor of science in business administration. He was a two-year captain and starting goalkeeper with the Gators after spending two seasons as a starting goalkeeper at Indianapolis. After his playing days at San Francisco State, he played for two years with the West Michigan Edge of the Premier Development League before moving on to the Salinas Valley Samba in the National Premier Soccer League.
He has his United States Soccer Federation National “B” and National “Y” coaching licenses and a director of coaching diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
