Biography
2009-10: Stangel appeared in 27 contests with four starts...she averaged 2.1 points and nearly one rebound per game...recorded career-highs in a number of categories including points (11 at Illinois-Springfield,), rebounds (3 at UIS), field goals made (5 at UIS), blocks (2 vs. William Jewell) and three-point field goals made (2 at West Florida)...matched her career-high in three point field goals made at Maryville (January 28) and against Lincoln on February 11...shot 90 percent from the foul line.
2008-09: Played in nine games scoring in four of her appearances, getting a career-high six points against Lincoln in the season opener...had two points apiece in the contests against Rockhurst, Illinois-Springfield and Missouri-St. Louis...also had five rebounds and seven assists on the season.
2007-08: Played in 11 games and scored in two of her appearances, getting two points in the contests against Saint Joseph’s and Texas A&M International…also had four assists on the year.
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned first-team all-conference and all-county honors…averaged 11.2 points and four rebounds per game at Roncalli High School, where she was coached by John Stelzer…shot 42 percent from the field, 35 percent from three-point range and 72 percent at the free throw line for a team that finished 21-3 and reached the sectional finals…served as a team captain…team won a share of its conference championship…was an academic all-state selection by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Gene and Mary Stangel…majoring in mechanical engineering...is a member of S&T’s Student Athlete Advisory Council, Kappa Mu Epsilon, Society of Women Engineers, M-Club and Pi Tau Sigma.
