Biography
2014-15: Finished second on the team in scoring with an average of 12 points per game…scored in double figures on 15 occasions and scored better than 20 three times, led by a 29-point effort against Ozark Christian…also posted 26 in the home win over Trevecca Nazarene and 24 against Rockhurst…also had eight assists and five steals in that Trevecca contest…averaged 2.9 rebounds per game while shooting 42.3 percent from the field, 38.7 percent from three-point range and 72.9 percent at the free throw line…was second on the team in assists with 59 and third in steals with 38, which ranked 13th in the GLVC.
2013-14: Averaged 7.8 points and two rebounds per game for S&T in the 2013-14 season while playing in all 27 games…matched his career high with 20 points at Kentucky Wesleyan and again later in the season in the home win over William Jewell…scored in double figures on nine occasions…pulled down a season-best seven rebounds in the William Jewell contest…connected on 47.1 percent of his attempts from the floor, 38.9 perent from three-point range (14-of-36) and 82.1 percent at the free throw line…had an eight-game stretch where he made 29 of his 50 shots from the field (58 percent)…added 31 assists, 24 steals and two blocked shots.
2012-13: Worked his way into the starting lineup as a freshman and started in the Miners' final 19 games...played in 23 contests overall and averaged 8.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game...added 25 assists and 18 steals...shot 43.1 percent from the floor, 34 percent from three-point range and 73.8 percent from the free throw line...scored in double figures in the Miners' last four games of the year and in 10 games overall...posted a season-high 20 points against NCAA Division II Tournament participant Indianapolis and had 15-point outings against William Jewell and eventual Division II champion Drury.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was an all-state and all-district selection while playing at Whitfield School in St. Louis…averaged 14.3 points and 2.5 rebounds, while adding 31 assists in 20 steals in his senior season at Whitfield…had his senior year cut short to 16 games due to an injury…shot 42.7 percent from the field and 77.9 percent at the free throw line…averaged 18.9 points as a junior when he shot 57.5 percent from the floor and 72 percent at the foul line, while also averaging 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.4 steals a game…finished his career ranked sixth on Whitfield’s all-time scoring list with more than 1,600 points.
PERSONAL: Son of Willis and Karen Ellis and Glenora Gouse…attended Whitfield School, where his coach was Mike Potsou…majoring in engineering management.
