Biography
2022-23: Named to the All-GLVC second team...finished second on the team in scoring with an average of 15.3 points per game that was good for eighth in the GLVC...scored in double figures in 22 of the 27 games he appeared in...posted a season-high 28 points in a win over Maryville, one of eight games in which he scored 20 or more points...had 26 points against Principia to cap a run of four straight games with at least 20 points and scored 25 in a home victory over McKendree...scored the eventual game-winning basket with 15 seconds remaining in the game at McKendree to help the Miners sweep the season series over the eventual GLVC Tournament champions...became the 26th player in program history to reach 1,000 points during S&T's game at Missouri-St. Louis...finished the season with 62 three-point baskets (ninth in the GLVC), 39 assists, four blocked shots and 37 steals...shot 40.8 percent from the field, 34.8 percent from three-point range and 82.9 percent at the free throw line.
2021-22: Was selected to the All-GLVC second team...finished fourth in the GLVC in scoring with an average of 19.2 points per game, the highest single season scoring average by a Miner in eight seasons...also made 90 three-point baskets -- the second-most in the GLVCÂ and third-most in one year in program history --Â and sixth in free throw percentage at 83.9 percent...was sixth in the conference with an average of 34.1 minutes played per game...shot 39.5 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from beyond the arc...scored in double figures in 27 of the team's 28 games, tying the most games with 10 or more points in one season...had a season-high 26 points on four occasions during the year, doing so against William Jewell, Webster, Truman State and Quincy; also scored 25 in a win over Southwest Baptist...had 20 or points in 15 games and scored 19 in the Miners' GLVC Tournament game against Indianapolis...hit a season-high six three-pointers against Webster...also finished the season with 60 assists, 24 steals and five blocks while averaging 3.3 rebounds per game.
2020-21: Named to the GLVC's All-Freshman team after finishing as the league's sixth-leading scorer with an average of 17.8 points per game...average was the second-highest ever recorded by a Miner freshman...shot 40.6 percent from the field, 37.9 percent from three-point range with a team-high 55 treys and 82.3 percent at the free throw line...led the Miners in scoring on 12 occasions and had 16 games in double figures, led by a 32-point outing against Lindenwood on Feb. 6...scored at least 20 points seven times, tied for the fifth-most occasions in the GLVC...was one of just four players in the conference with multiple 30-point outings, as he had 30 in the Miners' Dec. 18 win at Drury...also averaged 3.2 rebounds per game while adding 21 assists and 16 steals.
HIGH SCHOOL: Named to the All-VYPE Dallas Public Schools second team following the 2019-20 season...averaged 24.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game...reached double figures in every game during the season, including a season-high 36-point effort against Trimble Tech...scored at least 20 points in 26 of the 32 games he played in and had five games with at least 30 points...scored better than 2,300 points in his prep career...was part of two state finalist teams at Northwest, as well as two regional championship squads and a third that reached the title game...also played on three teams that won district and area championships.
PERSONAL: Son of Julien, Sr., and Teonda Smith…attended Northwest High School, where his coach was Travis Edwards…majoring in business at Missouri S&T.
