Marques Baldwin begins his seventh season as the Miners' assistant coach as he has helped lead the Miners to some of their most productive seasons in history during his tenure.
In the 2016-17 campaign, the Miners averaged 83.4 points per game as they reached the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament for the first time in three seasons. Â S&T hit 262 three-point baskets during the year, the second most in a season in the history of the program.
The Miners averaged 88.6 points per game in the 2013-14 season, the second-highest single season average in school history and fifth-best mark in NCAA Division II. Â S&T cleared the 100-point mark on seven occasions, the most occurences of that mark in 22 seasons. Two years ago, the Miners cleared the 100-point mark four times and averaged 80.9 points per contest.
Before coming to Missouri S&T, Baldwin served as an assistant coach for one season at Westminster College in Fulton, Mo.
During Baldwin’s season on the Blue Jays’ staff in 2012-13, they finished with a record of 19-7 and ended up in a tie for second in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 12-4 record. He joined Westminster’s staff prior to last season after spending two seasons as the head coach at Fulton High School.
He was an assistant coach at Fulton for one season prior to becoming the head coach in the spring of 2010 and also served as an assistant at Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, Kan.
A native of Waynesville, Mo., Baldwin played collegiately at Mineral Area College and at Lubbock Christian University. At LCU, Baldwin averaged 9.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and a steal per game in 58 games played during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. He shot close to 50 percent from the field and better than 34 percent from three-point range.
