Biography

2024-25: Named to the All-Midwest Region first team by the NABC and D2CCA…also landed All-GLVC first team honors…three-time GLVC Player of the Week selection during the season…was named during the year to the watch list for the Bevo Francis Award…ranked seventh in the GLVC in scoring with his average of 16.7 points per game…also ranked third in field goal percentage (56.8 percent), blocked shots (1.8 per game) and fourth in rebounding (7.6 per game)…broke S&T’s single-season record with 54 blocked shots during the campaign, which ranked 24th in NCAA Division II…recorded nine double-doubles this season that ranked second in the GLVC…scored in double figures in 27 of the 30 games he has appeared in this season; only games outside of double figures were against non-NCAA schools early in the season (averaged just under 15 minutes played per game in those contests)…ended the season with a string of 23 straight games in double figures…scored a season-high 26 points in the Miners’ first-ever win at Illinois Springfield…scored the game-winning basket with two seconds left in S&T’s victory over Missouri-St. Louis and hit two free throws with 17 seconds to play to give the Miners the lead in a 69-68 win over Truman State…made the go-ahead free throws with 55 seconds remaining and made two more with 17 to go in the victory at Lincoln on Feb. 27…scored 20 or more points on 10 occasions, including a run of four consecutive games from Jan. 16-23 when he averaged 23 points per game during that span…posted a then career-high 24 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots in S&T’s win over third-ranked West Liberty; was nine-of-12 from the field in that contest…recorded a career-high five blocked shots to go along with a 20-point, 14-rebound effort in a win over then-No. 21 Upper Iowa; the five blocks matched the single-game high for a game in the GLVC during the season…matched that five-block performance in the GLVC quarterfinal victory over McKendree…recorded nine blocked shots in the Miners’ two games in the GLVC Tournament…averaged 17.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game while shooting 56.7 percent in GLVC games during the season…earned several academic honors following the season, including third-team Academic All-America honors and academic all-region laurels from the College Sports Communicators and being selected to the Honors Court by the NABC…member of GLVC All-Academic team.

2023-24: Started in 25 of the team's 27 games and posted averages of 10 points and a team-leading 6.4 rebounds per game...also ranked third in the GLVC with 42 blocked shots, while adding 20 assists and 24 steals...shot 49.8 percent from the field and connected 21 times from three-point range...scored in double figures on 15 occasions, led by 19-point showings against William Jewell and Truman State...had three double-doubles, which came against McKendree, William Jewell and Lewis...had four blocks against McKendree, Southwest Baptist and Indianapolis...his 42 blocked shots on the season ranked among the top 10 for a year at S&T and vaulted him into the top 10 all-time in program history...member of GLVC All-Academic team.

2022-23: Selected to the GLVC's All-Freshman team...averaged 7.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game and blocked a team-high 28 shots....finished fifth in the GLVC in blocked shots and was the highest-ranked freshman in that department...shot 56.5 percent from the field and 36.5 percent from three-point range while recording 15 assists and five steals...reached double figures on seven occasions, led by a 21-point outing against Westminster and a 20-point effort against Baptist Bible...also scored 19 points against William Jewell...pulled down a season-high nine rebounds against NCAA Division II finalist West Liberty...member of GLVC All-Academic team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned first-team all-state honors following his senior year at Marquette High School...averaged 17.9 points and 8,5 rebounds per contest during his senior year...also recorded 37 assists, 33 steals and 35 blocked shots during the 2021-22 season...set a new school record with 15 made field goals as part of a 34-point performance against Vianney as a senior...averaged 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and had 17 blocked shots in 25 games during his junior year....earned honorable mention all-conference honors in the Suburban Conference Yellow Pool and all-district laurels following the 2020-21 season...earned all-state honors in volleyball and academic all-state laurels in basketball and volleyball...was selected as the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar-Athlete of the Year for his school.

PERSONAL: Son of Stephen and Colleen Young...attended Marquette High School...majoring in engineering management at Missouri S&T.
