Biography

2011: Named to the all-Midwest region second team by the American Baseball Coaches Association and to the All-GLVC first team after going 10-1 with a 2.38 earned run average…set an S&T single season record with his 10 wins, including six in GLVC play as he went 6-1 with a 2.36 ERA in conference contests…led the GLVC in overall wins on the mound and ranked fifth in earned run average in the league…was the winning pitcher in both of S&T’s post-season victories, beating Bellarmine in the GLVC Tournament and shutting out defending national champion Southern Indiana with a five-hitter in the opening round of the NCAA Midwest Regional…recorded teams highs with his 87 innings pitched (S&T record) and 64 strikeouts, while walking only nine to set another school mark with just 0.93 walks per nine innings, a mark that ranked eighth in NCAA Division II…opposing hitters batted just .226 against him in 2011…threw shutouts against USI and Upper Iowa during the season and had six complete games…was one of just 29 pitchers in all of Division II to win at least 10 games in the 2011 season.

2010: Finished the year with a 2-2 record and 4.61 earned run average out of the bullpen…led the Miners with a school record 27 appearances…threw 27 1/3 innings on the year with 26 strikeouts…picked up both of his wins on the same day, beating Truman State in both games of a doubleheader on April 21…was the first Miner since 1994 to be the winning pitcher in both games of a twinbill…had a season-high five strikeouts against Lewis in his longest outing of the season of three innings.

2009: Posted a 2-6 record as a freshman with a 5.67 earned run average…made eight starts among the 16 games he appeared in…threw 54 innings, the second-most on the staff and struck out 42,,,picked up both of his wins in relief, beating Henderson State and Truman State…had a season-high seven strikeouts against Washburn.

HIGH SCHOOL: Recorded an 8-0 record and 2.21 earned run average in the 2008 season at Francis Howell High School…pitched a team-high 50 2/3 innings and struck out 33 against 14 walks for a team that finished as the Missouri Class 4 runner-up...completed four of his seven starts…finished the 2007 season with a 3-1 record and 3.30 earned run average while striking out nearly five batters per seven innings pitched…one of the wins came over state runner-up Holt…was also named to the Gateway Athetic Conference's all-academic team.

PERSONAL: Son of Mark and Kim Gronek…majoring in mechanical engineering.
