HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Freeburg High School in Freeburg, Ill., where he was a pitcher and outfielder…earned all-area honors as a pitcher and earned his team’s top pitching award on two occasions…batted .339 as a senior with a home run and 10 runs batted in…seven of his 20 hits on the season were for extra bases…also went 4-0 on the mound with 27 strikeouts in 24 innings pitched…hit .315 as a junior with a homer and 11 RBI, while going 3-2 with a 3.60 earned run average…had 27 strikeouts in 46 2/3 innings in 2010…posted a 5-1 record as a sophomore with a 3.00 ERA, fanning 18 hitters along the way…also hit .375 in eight at-bats that year.
