AT BARTON: Pitched at Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kan., where he went 3-3 with a 4.91 earned run average in the 2011 season…struck out 37 hitters in 44 innings of work and threw one complete game…was 3-2 as a freshman with a 2.92 ERA, fanning 15 in 24 2/3 innings.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Wichita Independent High School, where he earned all-state honors on two occasions…also named to the all-conference team in each of his last three seasons at the school…batted .500 with a home run and 31 runs batted in during his senior year…also had four triples and 20 stolen bases…posted a 2.18 earned run average in that season as well…hit .478 as a junior with 21 RBI and 18 stolen bases, while recording a 3.12 ERA…batted .378 as a sophomore and had a 4.12 ERA on the mound…played at shortstop and pitched at the high school level.
