Biography

2009: Played as both a pitcher and position player during his first year at S&T…played in 27 games in the field and batted .277 with a home run and three RBI…hit his homer against William Woods…had a three-hit game against Quincy…pitched in 10 games, starting in six, and posted a 2-3 record with an 8.19 earned run average…earned his wins in each of his last two starts of the season, beating McKendree and GLVC Tournament champion Northern Kentucky…allowed only two earned runs in five innings in the latter outing…fanned 19 batters in 29 2/3 innings of work.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Was 2-1 last season in 25 innings of work at Forest Park Community College…also batted .355 a year ago…was a member of the Dean’s List in both of his years at the school. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a second-team all-conference pick in the Suburban West Conference while playing at Marquette High School, where he hit .380 as a senior with three home runs and 25 runs batted in…struck out 29 in 28 1/3 innings on the mound.

PERSONAL: Son of Steve and Cindy Helton…majoring in mechanical engineering.
