2016-17: Earned All-America honors in four events during the NCAA Division II Championships…was part of two relay team that recorded top-eight finishes at the meet and two others that scored…earned first-team All-GLVC honors on the winning 800-yard freestyle relay team…led off the relay with a season-best time of 1:39.08 over the first 200 yards…also finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly, fifth in the 200-yard individual medley and sixth in the 200-butterfly at the GLVC Championships…was part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that was the league runner-up as well as the 200- and 400-yard medley relays team that finished third…also posted top times of 45.91 in the 100-freestyle, 48.76 in the 100-butterfly and 1:50.75 in the 200-butterfly, as well as a mark of 1:49.11 in the 200-IM.

2015-16: Earned All-America status in the 800-yard freestyle relay where the Miners finished fifth and as part of the 200-yard medley relay team…competed in the 100-freestyle, 200-individual medley, 100- and 200-butterfly and 400-medley relay at the NCAA-II Championships…was part of S&T’s championship team in the 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays at the GLVC Championships…took third in the 200-IM and 100-butterfly at the GLVC Championships while adding a sixth place showing in the 100-butterfly…was part of S&T’s second place team in the 400-medley relay and third place finisher in the 200-medley relay at the GLVC Championships…time of 49.24 in the 100-butterfly was the fastest by an S&T swimmer in the event during the year.

2014-15: Earned All-America honors in his first season at S&T as part of four relay teams…was on the 800-yard freestyle relay quartet that finished eighth, while earning honorable mention All-America awards in the 200-yard medley relay and 200- and 400-freestyle relays…was part of the Miners’ GLVC championship team in the 800-yard freestyle relay…was part of S&T’s third place team in the 400-freestyle relay and 200-medley relay, while placing third individually in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.87 seconds – his best time of the season -- as well as fourth in the 200-individual medley with a season-best time of 1:49.33…also had a fourth at the conference meet in the 400-medley relay and a fifth in the 200-butterfly…had seasonal-best times of 1:50.44 in the 200-butterfly, 21.22 seconds in the 50-freestyle, 48.20 in the 100-free and 1:41.82 in the 200-freestyle.

PERSONAL: Son of Terje and Heidi Nielsen…will compete in the freestyle, butterfly and individual medley events at Missouri S&T…majoring in computer engineering.
