Biography
2008: Earned All-America honors in the pole vault in both the indoor and outdoor seasons…finished as the national runner-up at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships as he cleared a school record 16-10 3/4 at the meet...finished fourth during the outdoor national meet with a mark of 16-4 at that meet…became the first S&T pole vaulter to ever clear 17-feet in the event, doing so in a late season meet at Emporia State…earned additional honors for his performance during the season, landing ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors on the second team and being selected as the GLVC’s “Scholar-Athlete of the Year” in men’s track and field…swept the conference titles in the pole vault, clearing 16-0 3/4 to win the indoor meet and 16-7 3/4 to take the outdoor title…also had a fifth place showing in the long jump at the outdoor meet with a mark of 20-11 1/4; had a top mark of 21-0 3/4 during the season.
2007: Was the seventh place finisher in the pole vault at the NCAA Division II Championships with a top mark of 16-feet, one of two Miner pole vaulters to earn All-America honors at the indoor meet…finished third in the pole vault at the GLVC Indoor Championships with a mark of 16-1 3/4…placed fourth in the outdoor pole vault at the GLVC Championships with a mark of 15-9 1/4 which made the NCAA Division II provisional mark.
2006: Earned a berth to the NCAA Division II Championships when he cleared 16-1 1/4 at Emporia State in May...was one of two UMR pole vaulters to go over the 16-foot mark during the season...won the GLVC outdoor championship in the event with a clearance of 15-9...also placed third in the event at the conference’s indoor meet with a mark of 15-0 3/4; had an indoor-best 15-6 at Missouri to make the NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
HIGH SCHOOL: Holder of the school record in the pole vault at Francis Howell North at 14-7...finished fourth in the 2005 Missouri Class 4 state meet with a clearance of 14-6...finished sixth in the state meet as a junior...won the Gateway Athletic Conference title in the pole vault in his senior year.
PERSONAL: Born August 13, 1986 in St. Charles, Mo....son of Michele Henry...majoring in electrical engineering.
