2013-14: Finished second in the 400-yard individual medley at the GLVC Championships in 2014, finishing with a time of 3:58.90 in the finals…time was the second-best of the season for S&T in the event…also had a fifth place finish in the 200-yard backstroke and 200-IM, while leading off the Miners’ 400-yard medley relay team that won the consolation final at the conference meet and scored in the 200-medley relay and 400-freestyle relay…recorded S&T’s top time in the 200-backstroke at the conference meet of 1:51.70…had top times of 4:43.11 in the 500-freestyle, 51.56 in the 100-backstroke and 1:51.46 in the 200-IM.

2012-13: Scored in five events at the NSISC Championships, which included a runner-up finish in the 400-yard individual medley, an event in which the Miners swept the top three spots in the finals...had a fifth place showing in the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyle at the meet and anchored S&T's 800-yard freestyle relay team that placed third...posted top times during the season of 4:38.51 in the 500-freestyle, 9:47.77 in the 1,000-free, 16:07.16 in the 1,650-freestyle and 1:57.35 in the 200-yard backstroke.

2011-12: Was part of the Miners' winning 800-yard freestyle relay team at the NSISC Championships, swimming the second leg of a race in which the team finished in a seasonal-best 6:48.83...finished third in the 500-freestyle in 4:36.84, fourth in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:43.70 and fifth in the 1,650-yard free...had his seasonal-best times in the 500- and 1,000-yard events at the NSISC meet, while his best 1,650 time was 16:08.09 at Missouri in December.

PERSONAL: Son of Jeff and Terry Layne...was a state qualifier in Texas in the freestyle events while at Cypress Creek High School...majoring in chemical engineering.
