Biography
2012: Named to the All-GLVC West first team as a relief pitcher…set the Miners’ single-season and career records for saves during the year, recording 14 saves in 17 opportunities…appeared in 23 games and had at least one save against every GLVC opponent the Miners faced during the season…had an 0-3 record with a 3.43 earned run average, striking out 15 batters in 21 innings...only allowed runs in six of the 23 games he pitched in.
2011: Set a new S&T record with six saves during the campaign…finished with a 2-1 record and 3.15 earned run average…had saves in six consecutive outings in April and May during the Miners’ school record 10-game winning streak and did not allow a run during that stretch in 5 2/3 innings of work...was the winning pitcher in relief in both games of the Miners’ April 6 doubleheader sweep over Drury, giving up just one hit in 2 2/3 innings in the twinbill…threw 20 innings and fanned 11 during the year…did not allow a run in nine consecutive appearances in one stretch.
2010: Pitched in 11 games during the year, posting a 4.02 earned run average as he finished 0-1…threw 15 2/3 innings and struck out 17 hitters, finishing with the team’s top average of strikeouts per nine innings and walked just four batters in that span…made his longest appearance against Southern Indiana of five innings and fanned a season-high six in that contest.
2009: Was redshirted for the season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Catcher who batted .286 with seven runs batted in at the plate at Mehlville High School…also pitched at the high school level, going 1-1 in four appearances on the mound with a 3.97 earned run average…struck out seven batters in 12 1/3 innings...appeared in nine games as a pitcher during his junior year….was a District 10 all-star in American Legion baseball after hitting .360 and posting a 2.10 ERA as a pitcher.
PERSONAL: Son of Harry and Carol Dunsford…majoring in mechanical engineering.
