Biography
2011-12: Was a part of the Miners' 400-yard medley relay team that finished fifth at the NSISC Championships...had a fifth-place finish individually in the 200-yard breaststroke and a seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke, while scoring in the 100-yard butterfly as well....recorded top times for the season of 58.62 in the 100-breaststroke (tops on the team) and 2:07.90 in the 200-breaststroke.
2010-11: Competed in the breaststroke and butterfly events...had a top time of 51.28 in the 100-butterfly...top breaststroke times were 57.60 for 100 yards and 2:04.70 in the 200...finished fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke, fifth in the 100-breaststroke and ninth in the 100-yard butterfly at the NSISC meet...named as a scholastic All-America by the CSCAA and the GLVC All-Academic team.
2009-10: Earned a berth to the NCAA Division II Championships in his first season as a Miner...competed in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events...finished fifth in the 100-breaststroke at the NSISC meet with his best time of the season of 58.12 seconds.
PERSONAL: Son of James and Ellen Simek…competed in the butterfly and breaststroke events at Fort Zumwalt West High School…was the Missouri state champion in the 100-yard butterfly as a senior, winning the event in a time of 50.48 seconds, and in the 100-breaststroke in 56.41 seconds…finished second in the 100-yard butterfly at the 2007 Missouri State Championships with a time of 52.27 seconds and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 59.54 seconds…also competed in the 200-medley relay in that 2007 state meet…qualifier for the Junior Nationals…holds the Fort Zumwalt West school record in three events and also holds the Gateway Athletic Conference marks as well…brother, Jarod, competes at Truman State...majoring in engineering management.
