Biography

2009-10: Earned five All-America awards at the NCAA Division II Championships...was the fifth-place finisher in the 200-yard breaststroke, while earning honorable mention honors in the 100-breaststroke and 200-individual medley...was also part of S&T's medley relay teams that placed eighth in their respective races...posted his best time of the season in the 200-breaststroke at nationals of 2:00.70, while recording a 56.26 in the 100-breaststroke and 1:52.22 in the 200-IM...won the NSISC title in the 100-yard breaststroke in 56.43, just off his best time of the year in the event and 200-breaststroke, where he posted a winning time of 2:02.92...was a member of S&T's 200- and 400-yard medley relay teams that took second at the NSISC Championships...finished fourth in the 200-IM at the NSISC meet and had a top seasonal time of 1:52.22...had S&T's top time in both breaststroke events for the 2009-10 season.

2008-09: Won the first individual national championship by a student-athlete from Missouri S&T by capturing the title in the 200-yard breaststroke…won the race in a school record time of 1:58.03, winning by a margin of 2.82 seconds…was a winner of four All-America awards at the national meet…placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke at nationals with a time of 54.76 seconds and as part of the 200-medley relay team that finished fourth and 400-medley relay squad that took sixth…also finished 13th in the 200-individual medley for honorable mention All-America honors…had a hand in three NSISC championships, winning on an individual basis in the 100- and 200-breaststroke and also as part of the 400-medley relay team…took fifth in the 200-IM at the NSISC meet…had a top time of 1:51.71 in the event… was part of the Miners’ 400-medley relay team that broke the S&T pool record in the event in a dual meet win over defending national champion Drury…set new school records in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke.
2007-08: Posted the Miners’ highest individual finish at the NCAA Division II Championships by taking second in the 200-yard breaststroke…posted a time of 1:58.94 in the finals, just 0.39 seconds behind national champion Jakub Jiracek of Seattle University…was also third on an individual basis in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 55.50 seconds…broke the Missouri S&T school record in both breaststroke events…earned All-America honors in the 200- and 400-yard medley relays as the Miners set new school records in those events…had a 54.51 split on his leg in the 400-medley relay as the Miners finished third in the event…was the runner-up in both breaststroke events at the NSISC meet.

PERSONAL: Son of Mehmed and Snezana Hamzic…won several national championships while competing in Serbia…majoring in mathematics and economics.
