KIRKSVILLE, Mo.  —  Missouri S&T Football will be in Kirksville, Missouri, this Saturday for its Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) opener against Truman State. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

About the Miners

The Miners dropped last week's contest to Missouri Western 42-30. After MWSU put up 35 points in the first two quarters, the Miners' defense stifled them in the second half, giving up just seven points and 94 yards. AJ Harris (Wentzville, MO/Lutheran-St. Charles) had a strong showing against the Griffons, putting up 134 all-purpose yards and scoring three touchdowns.

S&T has thrived in the run game, both offensively and defensively. They are third in the conference in rushing yards per game, averaging 202. The Miners' run defense is second-best in the conference at 122 yards allowed per game, while the team's 7.5 tackles for loss per game ranks 23rd in NCAA Division II.

Harris and Evan Wells (Roxana, IL/Roxana) both rank in the top 10 in the GLVC for rushing, averaging 74 and 58.5 rushing yards per contest, respectively. Harris ranks ninth in Division II for scoring, with four touchdowns in two contests. Jalen Hill (Mayo, FL/Lafayette) is the Miners' leading tackler, with an average of 8.0 total tackles per game, while Kaden Glass' (San Antonio, TX/Pieper) four tackles for loss rank him ninth in Division II.

About Truman State

The Bulldogs are 0-3 this year, falling to Washburn, Davenport and Northeastern State. Two of their losses were one-possession games, with a 21-27 result against Washburn and a 24-31 overtime result against Northeastern State.

Truman State is averaging 323.3 yards per game of total offense, the third-lowest in the GLVC. They have leaned more on the passing attack but maintain a relatively balanced 598 yards passing to 372 yards rushing. Special teams has been a weakness, with the Bulldogs going 1-for-4 on field goal attempts this year.

Quarterback Dylan Hair is off to a strong start for the Bulldogs, leading the GLVC in completion percentage (64.1) and averaging 199.3 passing yards per game. Luke Allen is the conference's top kick returner, picking up 150 yards on four returns, including one for 77 yards against Davenport. Jack Weltha is the team's leading tackler, averaging 9.7 per game with 29 in the first three weeks of the 2026 season.

What's Next

The Miners return home next week to host Southwest Baptist for Hall of Fame/Celebration of Nations/Friends and Family Weekend. Kickoff for that contest is scheduled for 6 p.m.
