ROLLA, Mo. — Missouri S&T football is set to play its third consecutive game at home Saturday when it hosts Missouri Western at 6 p.m.

About the Miners
Missouri S&T is coming off a 27-7 loss at home to No. 18 Northeastern State. The Miners had a strong first quarter, taking a 7-0 lead while outpacing the RiverHawks' offense early. A strong passing attack by Northeastern State in the second quarter helped the visitors take a 10-7 lead, which they never relinquished.
Eli Scott (Louisville, KY/Eastern) has a 90.8 passer rating this season, with his longest pass coming on a 28-yard connection with Sam Ryan (Columbia, MO/Father Tolton) last week. Ryan's two receptions for 37 yards currently lead the team, with the sophomore averaging 18.5 yards per reception. Evan Wells (Roxana, IL/Roxana) leads the Miners' rushing attack with 57 yards this year.
Kaden Glass (San Antonio, TX/Pieper) and Cameron Sturgell (Lamar, MO/Lamar) both had strong performances last week, with Glass leading the team with nine tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble. The Miners are +2 in the turnover battle, with Glass' forced fumble and Devin Dunn's (McLean, VA/The Potomac School) interception last week contributing to that mark.
About the Griffons
Missouri Western is 0-2 this season after dropping games against No. 20 Augustana and Central Missouri. The Griffons have allowed 112 points in their first two contests, giving up 63 in Week 1 before allowing another 49 in Week 2.
The Griffons had a strong showing against No. 20 Augustana in Week 1, losing by just five points to the nationally ranked opponent. Quarterbacks Isaiah Tate and Skyler Cassel combined for 635 passing yards and five touchdowns in that matchup, with Tate's 420 yards and four touchdowns leading the way. Tate did not fare as well the following week against Central Missouri, throwing for 115 yards while completing just 12 of 24 passes.
Rickie Dunn leads the Griffons' ground attack this season. He had 90 rushing yards and MWSU's lone touchdown in last week's game against Central Missouri. Malik Moore and Crew Myers have emerged as the team's top two wide receivers, with each recording more than 10 receptions and the duo combining for 400 receiving yards this season.
Broc Worcester leads the Griffons in tackles with 17, including nine solo tackles. The team is even in the turnover battle, giving up one turnover while also recording an interception by Ken Pierre-Charles.
