MADISON, Ill. — Missouri S&T Golf competed at the Arch Cup Sept. 8-9 at Gateway National Golf Links, finishing ninth among the 12 teams, shooting +66.
The Miners recorded 25 birdies and 147 pars during the tournament. S&T was eighth in par-3s (averaging 3.4 strokes per hole), 10th in par-4 (4.45) and tied for 10th in par-5 (5.33).
Haikal Putera (Selangor, Malaysia/IMG Academy) led the Miners with 13 birdies, the fourth-highest total in the tournament.
Andy Su (Poole, England/Poole) and
Cohen Vierling (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell) each recorded 34 pars, while
Thomas Heisner (Crestwood, MO/Lindbergh) and
Gustav Nottehed (Malmo, Sweden/Sundsgymnasiet) recorded 24 and 23 pars, respectively.
Putera was particularly effective on par-5 holes, averaging 4.75 strokes to finish three under par in that category. He also averaged 4.00 on par-4s, finishing even, and 3.07 on par-3s, finishing one over par.
Su averaged 3.20 on par-3s, finishing three over par, while Vierling averaged 3.27 and finished four over. Heisner averaged 4.56 on par-4s and 5.75 on par-5s, while Nottehed averaged 4.81 and 5.83 in those categories.
What's Next
The Miners will head to Allendale, MI, for the Midwest/Central Regional Preview next week Sept. 14 and Sept. 15. It will be held at The Meadows at GVSU.
