ROLLA, Mo.  --  Missouri S&T Baseball's Dylan Bates (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West) and Drew Baugus (Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood) both earned honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) this week. Both athletes were named Second Team All-Region in the Midwest by the NCBWA's panel of voters.

Bates, a senior right-handed pitcher put up a 10-2 record on the mound this season, the most in a season by a Miner since 2016. He was a key contributor to the Miners' school-record, 19-game winning streak. He recorded a 3.26 ERA during the season, marking the lowest ERA by an S&T starting pitcher since Dalton Erger in 2019. He finished second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) for ERA and sixth in batters struck out with 66, earning him First Team All-Conference honors.

Bates' most notable outing came against Truman State on March 22nd when he pitched a complete game shutout, giving up just five hits and one walk while striking out a career-high eleven batters. He becomes S&T's first All-Region pitcher since Aaron Bedsworth in 2016.

Baugus started in center field for the Miners this year, seeing action in 53 games and providing essential support in the field, at the plate, and on the bases. He led the team in putouts with 138, doing so with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage to set a new single-season program record.

At the plate, Baugus hit .363, the second-best mark on the team while recording a .476 on-base percentage. He was one of the top threats in the GLVC on the basepaths this year, tying for second the conference for stolen bases with 32 on 34 attempts. He also tied with Bricen Smith (Perry, GA/Mount de Sales Academy) for the most runs scored with 62 this year. The All-Region honor is the second of Baugus' career, with the sophomore earning Second Team All-Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association last year.
