Miner Football to Face Indianapolis on the Road this Saturday

10/7/2026 7:45:00 AM

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Missouri S&T Football will hit the road again Saturday, traveling to Indianapolis to take on the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds.

About the Miners

Missouri S&T's last two games have come down to the wire, with the Miners falling by three points to Southwest Baptist on Sept. 26 and by two points to Upper Iowa in double overtime last week. S&T will look to pick up its first conference win of the season Saturday, as Indianapolis hosts the Miners for Homecoming.

The S&T defense leads the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) with 13 sacks this season, ranking 26th in NCAA Division II. The Miners have also excelled in the turnover battle, averaging 1.8 takeaways per game with four interceptions and five fumble recoveries. Jalen Hill (Mayo, FL/Lafayette) has recovered three fumbles this season, tying him with Lincoln's Mark Gorbatenko and Valdosta State's Curtis Janvier for the most fumble recoveries in Division II.

AJ Harris (Wentzville, MO/Lutheran-St. Charles) continues to headline the S&T offense, moving up to fourth in the GLVC in rushing yards per game after a 144-yard performance against Upper Iowa. He leads the conference with eight rushing touchdowns, a mark that ranks 13th in Division II.

About Indianapolis

The Greyhounds are 2-4 this season, their worst record through six games in a decade. After dropping their first two GLVC contests to McKendree and Truman State, Indianapolis rebounded with a convincing 45-10 road win over previously unbeaten William Jewell.

The Indianapolis defense leads the GLVC in points allowed per game, giving up just 21.7. The Greyhounds have shown an ability to bottle up both the pass and the run, ranking third in the conference in yards allowed per game in both categories. Dontay Fort has been a force this season, tying for the second-most sacks in the conference and ranking fifth in tackles for loss per game.

The Greyhounds have maintained a balanced offensive attack but have found more success through the air than on the ground. Indianapolis ranks fourth in the GLVC in passing yards per game, with junior quarterback Nick Patterson ranking third with 221.8 passing yards per game. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds rank second-to-last in the conference in rushing, averaging 135.3 yards per game.
