INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T football scored twice through the air Saturday but could not overcome a strong second-quarter performance by Indianapolis, falling 48-14 at Key Stadium.
The Miners scored their first touchdown midway through the opening quarter, answering an Indianapolis touchdown with a seven-play, 75-yard drive. Eli Scott (Louisville, KY/Eastern) connected with Tyler Gioia (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison) for a 16-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7-7 with 7:59 remaining in the quarter.
The Greyhounds continued to add points in the first half, going into the locker room up 34-7. Missouri S&T found the end zone again in the third quarter when Scott hit Sam Ryan (Columbia, MO/Father Tolton) for a 25-yard touchdown.
Scott finished 18-of-35 passing for 194 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. Sam Ryan (Columbia, MO/Father Tolton) led the Miners with 77 receiving yards on three catches, including a 43-yard reception, while Gioia added seven catches for 61 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Kam Richardson (Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood) and Reid Meekins (Houston, TX/Cypress Falls) each recorded nine tackles to lead the Miners. Richardson also forced a fumble, while Missouri S&T totaled five tackles for loss.
What's Next
Missouri S&T will host the McKendree Bearcats for Homecoming on Oct. 17. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
