BOLIVAR, MO -- Jake Farrell's (Scottsdale, AZ/Notre Dame Prep) 402-yard, 3 touchdown performance at Southwest Baptist earned him national recognition today, with D2 Football naming him Offensive Player of the Week.
Farrell had a career day against the Bearcats, becoming the first Miner quarterback to eclipse 400 passing yards since 2018. His 402 passing yards were the most by a Great Lakes Valley Conference quarterback in a conference game since 2022 and the second-most in any game by GLVC quarterbacks this year. Farrell led a 10-play, 69-yard drive in the final three minutes of the game, accounting for 54 of those yards and converting a 4th & 4 to set up the game-winning 23-yard field goal.
Farrell is the first Miner to be named a D2 Football Player of the Week since Ben Straatmann earned the defensive honor in November of 2021 following a performance against the SBU Bearcats that included 13 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
