Men's Soccer Prepares for Friday Home Game, GLVC Opener on the Road Sunday

9/10/2025 1:52:00 PM

ROLLA, Mo. - Missouri S&T men's soccer is scheduled to host Union at Allgood-Bailey Stadium this Friday, September 12, at 2 p.m., before hitting the road to begin Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play against Lincoln on Sunday, September 14, in Jefferson City, Mo.

About the Miners
The Miners are looking to build upon their early-season success heading into this week, following their 1-0 season-opener win against Southern Nazarene and the 2-2 draw against Kentucky Wesleyan earlier in the week. As of Tuesday afternoon, the Miners entered the NCAA Division II Midwest Region rankings at No. 9, ahead of GLVC foe Lincoln University, which rounded out the rankings at No. 10.

In S&T's victory over the Crimson Storm, Alexandar Borum led the charge in the eighth minute, finding the back of the net off a corner kick off of Joseph Sommer (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville). The Miners' defense dominated, holding Southern Nazarene scoreless.

The Miners recorded its first draw of the season against the Panthers, with goals from Andrei Paley (Rogers, AR/Bentonville) and Luiz Bernis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Santo Antonio). Goalkeeper Cavitt Bruhn (Plano, TX/Plano) recorded a season high with two saves on four shots on goal.

About the Bulldogs
Union has had a rocky start to the season, posting a record of 0-0-2. The Bulldogs opened their 2025 campaign at home with a 2-2 draw against Ouachita Baptist and a 1-1 draw against Harding University. Ashanie Kennedy currently leads the Bulldogs offensively with one goal and one assist across the two draws. On the defensive end, Patrick Schott controls the game, recording seven saves in each of the last two contests.

The Miners are looking to even the all-time series, as Union leads 2-1. Last year's matchup between the two teams was cut short due to field conditions, with Union coming away with the win.

About the Blue Tigers
GLVC foe Lincoln opened up its season with a 3-1 victory over Northeastern State, led by Hadri Lopez, who recorded both a goal and an assist. On the defensive end, Vincent Osei stood out with nine saves, allowing one goal. During the Blue Tigers' 2024 campaign, Lincoln sported a 4-6-4 record in GLVC play and a 5-6-5 overall record, finishing 10th in their debut season competing in the conference.

The Miners have dominated the all-time series against the Blue Tigers, holding an 11-0 record. In their most recent matchup during the 2024 season, S&T secured a 1-0 win.

What's Next
The Miners continue GLVC play next week at home, taking on Drury on Friday, September 19, at 7:30 p.m.
