ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Miners Golf punched their ticket to the NCAA Championship following a third-place finish at the NCAA DII Midwest/Central Super Regional this week.
After their day one score of 292, S&T shot a collective 293 on day two.
Connor Benjamin (Nelson Bay, Australia/St. Philip's Christian College) led the way for S&T with his score of 69. He recorded six birdies in the round.
Cole Komyati (Elberta, AL/Bayside Academy) collected a 72, while
Nicolas Eroles (Zaragoza, Spain/IES Valdespartera) and
Rizq Adam Rohizam (Selangor, Malaysia/Robert Louis Stevenson) both produced a 76.
The Miners had a great round three with their score of 281. Eroles shot a 69 for the Miners with his six birdies. Komyati and
Isaac To (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia/Real International School) both had scores of 70, while Benjamin had a 72. In the final two holes, the Miners were fighting with Central Missouri, Harding and Findlay to claim a spot in the top four. They had five birdies out of eight total shots to finish in third place.
S&T claimed third place overall out of the top 20 teams in the Midwest and Central regions. They were the second-best team in the Midwest as Missouri-St. Louis finished in second. Central Oklahoma placed first, while Central Missouri rounded out the top four.
Individually, Komyati recorded 10
th place. Benjamin was in 17
th for the Miners. Eroles, To and Rohizam all tied for 56
th place.
For the Miners, this will be their second time in the last three seasons with a bid to the NCAA Championship. They last made it in the 2022-23 season and finished tied for eighth place.
What's Next
The NCAA Championship is scheduled for May 19-23 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The Championship will be played on the PGA National – Champions Course.
