Men's Soccer Set for Road Swing at Upper Iowa, Quincy

Rolla, Mo. – Missouri S&T men's soccer continues Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend with a pair of road matchups. The Miners will visit Upper Iowa on Friday, Oct. 17, at 5 p.m. in Fayette, Iowa, before heading to Quincy on Sunday, Oct. 19, for a 2:30 p.m. contest.

About the Miners
The Miners (6-3-2, 4-3-1 GLVC) enter the weekend unbeaten in their last three matches after earning a draw and a win at home.

On Friday, S&T battled regionally ranked UIndy to a 0-0 draw, holding one of the GLVC's top offenses scoreless for the first time in league play. Cavitt Bruhn (Plano, TX/Plano) posted seven saves for his fourth shutout of the season, earning GLVC Defensive Player of the Week.

Two days later, the Miners rolled to a 4-0 victory over Lewis behind a brace from Brendan Owens (St. Louis, MO/Fort Zumwalt South), while Alonzo Edmond (Gastonia, NC/Gaston Day) and Joao Vieira (Punta del Este, Uruguay/International College) also scored. S&T sits third in the GLVC in goals (21) and in assists (17) this season. Vieira leads the team with four goals, while Bruhn owns a 1.182 goals-against average.

About the Peacocks
Upper Iowa (3-7-1, 2-5-1 GLVC) enters the weekend after splitting a pair of conference contests. On Friday, the Peacocks earned a 2-1 comeback win at Southwest Baptist behind second-half goals from Abraham Navarro and Florian Deick. Arnas Kurakinas and Eduardo Gomez Montt added assists, while goalkeeper Noah Nymark-Pedersen collected six saves in the victory.

Two days later, Upper Iowa fell 4-2 at Drury despite goals from Julian Mesen and John Pranger. Dexter Garrett and Kurakinas tallied assists, and JJ Gonzalez-Hayes and Pedersen combined for three saves in goal.

About the Hawks
Quincy (6-3-2, 4-3-1 GLVC) heads into the weekend coming off a draw and a win on the road. On Friday, the Hawks fell 1-0 at Rockhurst, conceding the game-winner in the 80th minute despite limiting the Hawks to just one second-half goal. Jake Offerman recorded three saves in goal, while Alvaro Heredia Garcia tallied Quincy's lone shot on target.

Two days later, Quincy earned a 1-1 draw at Southwest Baptist behind a second-half strike from Josh Nwosu in the 51st minute. Offerman made six saves to preserve the result as Quincy and SBU finished even in corner kicks (4-4).
