ROLLA, Mo. – Men's Soccer continues their longest road trip of the season at Maryville on Friday and UMSL on Sunday.
Match 1: Missouri S&T (4-1-1, 1-0-1 GLVC) at Maryville (2-3-1, 2-1 GLVC) Sept. 27 at 1:30 p.m.
The Saints come into this game with a 2-3-1 overall record but a 2-1 GLVC record. This past weekend, they took down both Rockhurst (4-2) and William Jewell (1-0). In their victory at William Jewell, Mason Crew scored the game-winning goal early in the 14
th minute. It was Crew's second goal of the season.
In their all-time matchup, Maryville leads 12-8-3 and hold a 8-3-2 record in St. Louis. The Saints were picked to finish third in the GLVC this season after their run to the NCAA quarterfinals last season. They also received two first place votes from GLVC coaches. Bryce Glisson leads the team with six points and 12 shots. Crew has two goals and one assist through six games this season.
Match 2: Missouri S&T (4-1-1, 1-0-1 GLVC) at UMSL (3-2-1, 1-1-1 GLVC)
Missouri-St. Louis has won, lost and drew a match so far in their GLVC slate. They fell to Drury 0-1, tied Southwest Baptist 0-0 and defeated Rockhurst 3-1 this past weekend. Jon Campbell tallied two goals in that game and Michael Quinn scored one.
The Miners trail the Tritons 18-23-4 in their all-time matchup. In St. Louis, the two teams have a 9-9-2 record. UMSL was picked one spot above S&T in the GLVC preseason poll in the 10
th spot. Last year, the Tritons finished 3-9-1 in the conference and 4-9-2 overall. Campbell currently leads the team and the conference with five goals this season. Goalkeeper Austin Reis has allowed seven goals this season with 26 saves.
This match will be played at Creve Coeur Soccer Park due to incoming rain in the St. Louis area.
About the Miners
Through six contests, the Miners are 4-1-1 with a 1-0-1 GLVC record. They concluded non-conference play with a 1-0 win over Davenport last Friday.
Mustafa Hasan (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh) scored the game-winning goal to defeat the Panthers. On Sunday, the Miners drew with Drury on the road. Once again, Hasan scored a goal, his second of the year.
Hasan leads the team with two goals and five shots on goal.
Mike Banasik (Loekkegade, Denmark/Hjoering Gymnasium) leads the team with 10 total shots and is second with four shots on goal.
Cavitt Bruhn (Plano, TX/Plano) has made 13 saves this season with only three goals allowed. He is second in the conference in shutouts with three this season.
What's Next
Missouri S&T will return home next weekend to play Illinois Springfield on Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and McKendree on Oct. 6 at 2:30 p.m. They go back on the road the following weekend to face Lewis and Indianapolis.
