ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Men's Soccer narrowly missed out on the GLVC Tournament after they fell to Rockhurst 3-1 on Sunday.
In a rainy affair, the Hawks won 3-1 against the Miners. It started out early in the first half as Sam McIntosh set the tone in the 19
th minute with a goal. Eight minutes later in the 26
th minute, S&T tied up the match at 1-1.
Sam Bresette (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) put one in the back of the net at the midway point of the first half. Later in the 33
rd minute, Immanuel Wayoro made the score 2-1 to give Rockhurst a 2-1 lead. The Miners did not have a shot on goal the rest of the half.
With a 2-1 deficit in the second half, S&T applied early pressure with two shots by
Caiden Harris (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis University High) that were saved early. Those were the only two shots on target for the Miners in the half as the Hawks were able to stand tall against the Miners. Rockhurst put the match away in the 84
th minute with a Blake Barrick goal. The Miners fell to the Hawks 3-1 in their season finale.
Harris and
Alexander Burum (Oslo, Norway/Valle Hovin Vgs) were the only players for S&T with two shots. Harris tallied two shots on goal and Bresette had the other.
Cavitt Bruhn (Plano, TX/Plano) made eight saves on three goals allowed. The Hawks outshot the Miners 16-9 and 11-3 with shots on goal.
With the loss, the Miners fell out of the top eight of the GLVC standings. With an UMSL win and S&T loss, the Miners fell to ninth. Their 19 conference points was one behind Rockhurst in eighth.
S&T also celebrated seven seniors who will graduate this school year.

Jimmy Sanchez (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell Central) were all honored for the Miners.
For a team that was picked to finish 11
th in the GLVC, the Miners ended in ninth with a 5-5-4 GLVC record. Their eight total wins was an improvement from four in 2023. They were one of six teams in the conference this season with eight wins or more as the Miners went 8-6-4 overall. They also went 6-2-1 at home between the S&T Soccer Field and Allgood-Bailey Stadium. S&T will be back in action for spring matches after the calendar turns.
