ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Men's Soccer is set to face Illinois-Springfield and McKendree this upcoming weekend at home.
Match 1: Missouri S&T (5-1-2, 2-0-2 GLVC) vs. Illinois-Springfield (3-2-2, 3-0-2 GLVC) Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
The Prairie Stars come into this game undefeated in GLVC play with a 3-0-2 record. Over the weekend, they defeated Southwest Baptist 1-0 and drew with Rockhurst 2-2. Their other conference wins include Truman State and Quincy.
All-time against UIS, Missouri S&T is 10-5-3 and 5-3-1 at home. They are tied for second in the GLVC with McKendree, three points ahead of the Miners. Although they were picked fifth in the conference, UIS received two first place votes in the preseason poll. Goalkeeper Joe Brudnak currently leads the conference in save percentage at .885. Anton Aduwa-Emovon has a team-high three goals this season.
Match 2: Missouri S&T (5-1-2, 2-0-2 GLVC) vs. #9 McKendree (6-0-2, 3-0-2 GLVC) Oct. 6 at 2:30 p.m.
McKendree is undefeated through eight matches this season with six total wins. The Bearcats are currently ranked number nine according to the United Soccer Coaches poll with their undefeated season. This past weekend, they drew with Drury 1-1 and took down Southwest Baptist 1-0.
The Miners are 14-8-2 and 7-3-1 at home all-time against McKendree. The Bearcats were picked fourth in the GLVC preseason poll but sit tied for second coming into the weekend. Phillip Schmidt is second in the conference with four goals and Matteo Schubert leads the conference with four assists. Christian Herluf's five shutouts lead the GLVC.
About the Miners
After their longest road trip of the season, S&T comes back to Rolla with a 5-1-2 overall record and 2-0-2 GLVC record. The Miners are undefeated at home with three wins this season. On their road trip, the Miners drew 1-1 versus Drury took down Maryville 1-0 and tied with UMSL 1-1. Their undefeated record and eight conference points is fourth in the GLVC.
Mustafa Hasan (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh) leads the team with two goals and five points. The Miners have seven different goal scorers this season, one away from the total of eight last year.
Mike Banasik (Loekkegade, Denmark/Hjoering Gymnasium) leads the team with seven shots on goal and 13 shots.
Daylan Frerker (Collinsvillle, IL/Collinsville) has tallied 648 minutes played this season, the second most behind
Cavitt Bruhn's (Plano, TX/Plano) 709. Through eight matches in 2024, Bruhn has only allowed four goals with 22 saves. In the GLVC, Bruhn is in the top three in goals against average, saves and shutouts.

What's Next
The Miners will head back out on the road next weekend to face Lewis on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Indianapolis on Oct. 13 at 1:30 p.m. CT. They will come back home on Oct. 18 and Oct. 20 to play Quincy and Upper Iowa.
