ROLLA, Mo. – Men's Soccer plays four of their last six regular season games at home with the first two against Quincy and Upper Iowa this weekend.
Match 1: Missouri S&T (6-4-2, 3-3-2 GLVC) vs. Quincy (4-6-1, 3-4-1 GLVC) Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Quincy comes into this match with a weekend split after a 1-0 win against Southwest Baptist and 0-3 loss versus Rockhurst. The Hawks sit two spots behind S&T in the GLVC standings in eighth place with six matches to go. Earlier this season, the Hawks took down #8 Purdue Northwest 2-1 and drew #24 Lewis 1-1. Since that draw, the Hawks have gone 3-4-0.
Goalkeeper George Roke currently leads the GLVC and is third in all of NCAA-DII with 6.55 saves per game. Leo Cann is eighth in the conference in shots per game at 1.91 and tied for third in goals with three. In their head-to-head record, the Hawks lead 19-7-5. At Missouri S&T, Quincy leads 7-4-2.
Match 2: Missouri S&T (6-4-2, 3-2-2 GLVC) vs. Upper Iowa (1-7-3, 1-5-2 GLVC) Oct. 20 at 2:30 p.m.
The Peacocks earned their first win of the season in their last match against Southwest Baptist in a 2-0 shutout. In the win, Alejandro Sanchez and Julian Mesen both scored for the Peacocks in a match with 10 yellow cards and two red cards. They sit in 14
th in the GLVC with five total conference points.
Even though they rank last in goals allowed per game at 2.45, goalkeeper JJ Gonzalez-Hayes is third in the conference with 4.00 saves per game. In just four matches in their all-time matchup, the Miners leads 2-1-1, all of which have been played at Missouri S&T.
About the Miners
S&T is returning home after their 0-2 weekend at Lewis and Indianapolis. In total,
Cavitt Bruhn (Plano, TX/Plano) made 11 saves between both matches for the Miners. Missouri S&T ranks sixth in the GLVC in shots per game at 11.58. Their 0.92 goals allowed per game is fifth in the GLVC.
Mike Banasik (Loekkegade, Denmark/Hjoering Gymnasium) is ninth in the conference in shots on goal and tied for second in game-winning goals. He leads the team with three goals this season along with 18 shots and 10 shots on goal.
Mustafa Hasan (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh) is second in goals with two and five total points. Behind Bruhn's 1,054 minutes played this season,
Daylan Frerker (Collinsvillle, IL/Collinsville) has started all 12 matches for the Miners and has 967 minutes played.
Caden Archer (St. Louis, MO/Vianney) is behind him at 869 and
Afxentis Andreou (Paphos, Cyprus/Lykeo Agios Charalambous) has 837 total minutes played.
What's Next
S&T goes on their final regular season road trip at William Jewell on Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and at Truman State on Oct. 27 at 2:30 p.m. Their final regular season home weekend of the season is against Southwest Baptist on Nov. 1 and Rockhurst on Nov. 3. The GLVC Tournament is slated for Nov. 10-17.
