KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- The Miners dropped to 2-4 tonight, losing to Truman State 48-17. The Bulldogs' starting quarterback Dylan Hair threw for 4 touchdowns as Truman State's offense went for 559 yards on the night.
The Bulldogs seized control early in the game, going for 157 yards and three touchdowns in the first quarter while forcing S&T into a trio of three-and-outs to make it a 21-0 game at the end of the first. The Miners put together a few good drives in the second quarter, driving all the way down to the Truman State at one point before an interception ended the drive. The Bulldogs ended the half going 5-for-5 on their drives and scoring 31 points, with the Miners scoring a field goal at the close of the half to make it a 31-3 game.
The Bulldogs continued their offensive dominance at the beginning of the second half, scoring on their first three drives to extend their lead to 48-3. The Miners would get their first touchdown early in the 4th, with
Tyler Gioia (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison) hitting CJ Jarmon on a streak down the right sideline to make it a 48-10 game. S&T would score again a few minutes later, going 77 yards in 10 plays to set up a 1-yard rushing touchdown for
Cade Grimm (Branson, MO/Branson) with 00:28 left of the clock. The Bulldogs would kneel the clock out on the ensuing play from scrimmage to end the game at 48-17.
Gioia was 15-of-30 for 225 yards, an interception, and a touchdown. C.J. Wiggins led the team in receiving yards with 58 yards on three catches, including the Miners longest play of the night with a 48-yard reception.

S&T will be in Liberty, Missouri next Saturday with a game against William Jewell on the schedule.
