ROLLA, Mo. – Women's Volleyball is set for their third GLVC weekend of the season at William Jewell and Rockhurst.

Match 1: Missouri S&T (4-10, 2-2 GLVC) at William Jewell (4-12, 0-4 GLVC) Oct. 11 at 6 p.m.

William Jewell sits as one of three teams 0-4 in the GLVC this season. They go into this match on a five-game losing streak and an 0-6 record at home. They have faced three teams this season receiving votes in the top 25 in Winona State, Washburn and UMSL. In three of their four GLVC matches, the Cardinals have taken at least one set over their opponents.

Bella LaPorta is currently ranked fourth in the GLVC in kills per set at 4.14. Her 3.33 digs per set is also first on the team, while her 0.50 blocks per set is third. In their head-to-head record, the Miners are 20-1 against the Cardinals, with their lone loss in 2018. Last season against William Jewell, the Miners swept the Cardinals 3-0. Alina Carrillo (Oviedo, FL/Hagerty) hit .400 in that match with 13 kills, eight digs, three aces and two blocks.

Match 2: Missouri S&T (4-10, 2-2 GLVC) at Rockhurst (8-5, 2-2 GLVC) Oct. 12 at 3 p.m.

The Hawks are in the middle of the GLVC with a 2-2 record and an 8-5 overall record. In Kansas City this year, they hold a 5-2 record. Against top 25 teams this season, they are 2-2 with wins over #23 Central Missouri and #5 UMSL. In that UMSL victory on Sept. 27, Tera Reberry picked up 19 kills.

Reberry ranks fourth in the GLVC in hitting percentage at .328 and Sydney Raszler is right behind her with a .321 percentage. Rockhurst is first in the conference in aces per set at 1.90. All-time versus Rockhurst, S&T is 8-21 and 3-10 in Kansas City, Missouri. In the Miners 2-3 loss against the Hawks in 2023, Jordan Burton (Olathe, KS/Olathe South) picked up 13 kills.

About the Miners

Missouri S&T is coming off two wins at home versus Drury and Southwest Baptist. Between both matches, Isabelle Monaco (O'Fallon, MO/Living Word Christian) picked up 26 kills and 44 digs. The two wins put the Miners in the middle of the GLVC through four matches. They are tied in fourth place with Rockhurst at 2-2.

Carrillo currently leads the team with 199 total kills and 3.62 kills per set. Her 15 service aces is the most for the Miners and her 3.04 digs per set is third. Monaco leads the team defensively with 3.38 digs per set. Madison Smith (Boonville, MO/Boonville) has 70 total blocks and 1.25 blocks per set, third in the GLVC.

Burton, a Kansas City area native, has a chance to make history this weekend for the Miners. She is currently 18 kills away from breaking the all-time Missouri S&T kills record. She would top Krista Haslag's career record of 1,306 kills that she set during her last season in 2015. Burton became the seventh member of the 1,000-kill club last season.
