ROLLA, Mo. – The home schedule begins for Missouri S&T's men's soccer team this weekend, as it also wraps up its non-conference slate with contests on Friday and Sunday.

The Miners will play their first home game of the season Friday when they take on Kentucky Wesleyan at 2 p.m., then return to the pitch two days later for a matchup against Union at 2:30 p.m.

S&T opened its season by playing to a scoreless tie against Rogers State, the pre-season favorite in the Great American Conference/Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, but dropped a 3-1 decision Sunday at Northeastern State to bring a 0-1-1 record into Friday's game.

Davis Joseph (Andover, KS/Andover Central) made eight saves in goal in the Rogers State contest to earn the shutout and comes into the weekend with a goals against average of 1.68.  The Miner goal at Northeastern State was scored by Mike Banazik, as he tallied an unassisted goal in the second half on Sunday.

The Miners were outshot by a 20-9 margin in their season opener, but had a 13-11 advantage in that department on Sunday.

ABOUT KENTUCKY WESLEYAN: The Panthers went 1-0-1 in their opening weekend of action, beating Berea 7-1 before playing to a 1-1 tie Sunday against Missouri-St. Louis.  Kentucky Wesleyan is scheduled to play Wednesday night against crosstown rival Brescia before traveling to Rolla for Friday's matinee.

Eight different Panthers have scored thus far on the season, while Jacob Boling had three assists in the first two games and is among five players with three points apiece.  Soufian Khaloufi has seen the bulk of the playing time in goal and has a 1.48 goals against average in just under 122 minutes of action.

ABOUT UNION: The Bulldogs also went 1-0-1 to begin the season heading into a Tuesday night tilt at Trevecca Nazarene and scored six goals in those two games, a 3-0 win over Ouachita Baptist and a 3-3 tie with Harding.  Union is coming off a 4-11-1 season, but one of those four wins came against S&T in mid-October last season in Jackson, Tenn.

Christian Harjanne scored twice for Union in the first two games and has a team-high four points, while Jacob Blue has a goal and an assist for three points as five different Union players have scored goals.  Botond Nemeth and Tommy Scahill both made a start in goal last week for the Bulldogs, with Nemeth recording a shutout in the win over OBU.
