QUINCY, Ill. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team dropped its first contest in Great Lakes Valley Conference play Friday night as Quincy handed the Miners a 3-0 loss.
The Hawks (2-3, 1-0 GLVC) got a goal from Tommy Barrell in the 25
th minute to take the lead, then tacked on two goals early in the second half less than three minutes apart to drop the Miners to 1-3-1 overall and 0-1 in the GLVC.
Barrell hit a shot from the center of the box into the upper right corner to put the Hawks in the lead, then Marcel Kaspar doubled the advantage when he scored from the perimeter of the box into the lower left corner of the net.
Under three minutes later, Stan Cargill scored from nearly the same location as Barrell did when he put a shot into the lower right corner of the net.
The Hawks had a 15-9 advantage in shots, with
Davis Joseph (Andover, KS/Andover Central) making five saves for S&T.
Mustafa Hasan (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh) and
Nathan Weyrauch (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) had two shots apiece for the Miners, who will return to action Sunday with a 2:30 p.m. contest at Illinois Springfield.
