ROLLA, Mo. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association has named Missouri S&T's Shelby Ply (Rolla, MO/Rolla) to its All-America team for the recently completed 2023 season.

Ply, a middle hitter and blocker who played as a fifth-year senior in 2023, was named as an honorable mention selection to the squad a week after being named to the AVCA's All-Midwest region team.  She is the second student-athlete in program history to be named to an All-America team, joining three-time All-America selection Krista Haslag with that distinction in the history of the S&T program.

Haslag, who was also a middle hitter and blocker, was named after the 2012, 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Ply, who was a three-time All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection and second-team pick this year, finished the 2023 season as the team leader in blocks, recording 107 total blocks that included 23 solo and 84 assisted blocks – leading S&T in all three categories.  She also finished third on the team with 275 kills and 361 points scored, while also recording 21 service aces.

In her 126-game career at Missouri S&T, Ply finished with 398 total blocks, of which 64 were solo and 334 were assisted, as well as 885 kills and 34 service aces.  Her total and assisted blocks rank third on the Miners' all-time list, while she ended up fourth in solo blocks for her career.  Ply also finished 10th for career kills and her attack percentage of .301 is the third-best for a career at S&T.

She set the single-season school record for attack percentage during the 2022 season when she finished at .380, then hit .340 during the 2023 season.  Ply was also a three-time GLVC Player of the Week during her career, including being selected after the final weekend of the regular season.
