EUREKA, MO- After finishing stroke play of the GLVC Championship in 4
th place, the Miners found themselves in the match play portion of the tournament. Despite hanging with top-seeded Indianapolis for the front half of the course, the Greyhounds would take the match-up 5-0-0 against S&T.
Carl Miltun (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field), who medaled in the stroke round of the tournament, sat tied with Keegan Bronnenberg through holes 2-5 before Bronnenberg took an eventual eight stroke lead through 12 holes. Miltun would stay right with him through the rest of the back nine, and even get within two strokes, but would fall by three after the 18
th hole.
Gustav Liljedahl (Uppsala, Sweden/Celsiusskolan), who was matched up against UIndy's Cam Carroll, stayed within striking distance of him before Carroll was able to push away from Liljedahl on the back nine to finish with a two-stroke lead. Oliver Mast and Ian Carroll did the same to
Fatt Hoe Yong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia/SMK Seri Bintang Utara) and
Mike Finnegan (San Tan Valley, Ariz./Perry), extending their lead out in the back nine while Erik Edwards beat out
Colin Stolze (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade College Preparatory). Indianapolis, who is ranked 9
th in Division II as a team, will move on to compete against Maryville in the finals.
S&T finishes the season as the 4
th place finisher in stroke play at the GLVC Championship with Miltun earning All-GLVC honors as the top medalist in individual play.
