ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T wrapped up its 2021 spring schedule Friday as it came up on the short end of a 2-1 decision to Quincy at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.

Jack Rhead got loose on a breakaway in the 80^th minute to score the go-ahead goal for the Hawks (9-4-1), just under 10 minutes after the Miners (5-8-1) had drawn even in the contest.

Following a scoreless first half where the Hawks outshot S&T 8-3, Quincy scored the first goal of the contest in the 53^rd minute when Cole Hayes got the ball on an errant pass, then after eluding the Miner defense in front of the net, hit a shot past a diving Michael Sallee (Springfield, MO/Catholic) into the lower left corner.

The Miners drew even in the 70^th minute when Luan Barbosa (Curitiba, Brazil/Colegio SESI) sent a through ball to Dario Rossell (Madrid, Spain/IES Lazaro Cardenas), who proceeded to beat Quincy goalkeeper Michele Barletta in a one-on-one situation.

The Hawks nearly regained the lead nearly two minutes after the Rossell goal when Nick Chapman hit a shot that caromed off the crossbar and Aubrey Reis' rebound shot went wide.  About seven minutes later, Reis sent a pass from the Hawks' side of midfield ahead to Rhead that led to the tie-breaking tally.

S&T, who was outshot 16-10 overall and 5-3 in shots on net, had three shots in the final 10 minutes.

In the Miners' 5-8-1 campaign, only one of their 14 games was decided by more than one goal.
