ROLLA, Mo. – The second half of the men's soccer season will get underway for Missouri S&T this weekend as the Miners head to the St. Louis area for a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference contests.

The Miners will open the weekend with a Friday contest against Missouri-St. Louis that will take place at the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex in Maryland Heights, Mo., before S&T heads to Lebanon, Ill., Sunday for a matchup against McKendree.  Friday's game will get underway at 3:30 p.m., while the Sunday contest will begin at 2:30 p.m.

Missouri S&T evened its record at 3-3-1 on the season after it rallied from a two-goal deficit in the second half to defeat Lindenwood 3-2 Sunday at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.  The Miners got a penalty kick goal from Paal Benum (Trondheim, Norway/Byaasen Videregaadende) early in the half to start the scoring, then got the tying goal from Sean Perryman (Springfield, MO/Glendale) and the game-winner from Jacob Bandy (Bettendorf, IA/Pleasant Valley) to complete the comeback.

Benum is tied with Jason Jorgensen (Florence, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Santa Maria) for the team lead in goals with two – Jorgensen got his second goal in a 3-2 overtime loss to fifth-ranked Maryville last Friday.  Grant Polman (Wentzville, MO/Holt), who scored the other goal in the Maryville contest, also has four points as he has two assists to go along with his tally.

Miner goalkeepers Michael Sallee (Springfield, MO/Catholic) and Davis Joseph (Andover, KS/Andover Central) have combined for a 1.20 goals against average on the season and have made 16 saves between them.  Sallee has a 1.05 goals against mark, while Joseph's stands at 1.37.

The Miners are currently in a three-way tie for seventh place in the GLVC standings with 10 points and two of the teams in front of them are on the weekend slate, starting with UMSL who is currently third with 14 points.  The Tritons had a four-game unbeaten streak halted with a 3-2 overtime loss at Drury Sunday and brings a 4-2-2 record into Friday's game.

Mylz Barrington leads UMSL with two goals and two assists on the season, while Garrett Bass and Zach Druhe have two goals apiece.  Anton Mukhin has seen the bulk of the playing time in goal for the Tritons and has a 0.81 goals against average, as UMSL has allowed just seven goals in its first eight contests.

McKendree is 3-3-2 for 11 points on the season after losing 2-1 to Southwest Baptist on Sunday.  The Bearcats are paced on the offensive side by Raul Artega, who has scored four of McKendree's seven goals on the year and James Stone, who has a goal and three assists.  Goalkeeper Alvaro Cortazar has a 0.86 goals against average and has turned away 31 shots in 777-plus minutes of action.
