ROLLA, MO- The Miners (6-4, 6-4 GLVC), who battled against two top-25 teams last weekend, will have another tough challenge ahead of them as they travel to the University of Indianapolis to take on the Greyhounds and 23
rd ranked Quincy University.
S&T got back in the receiving votes category after the Miners swept then 7
th ranked Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday.
Jordan Burton (Olathe, Kansas/Olathe South Senior High) led the team with 14 kills while Peyton Gannaway posted a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs.
For the season, Gannaway and Burton have led the team with 115 and 110 kills, respectively., while both are averaging just over 3.0 kills/set.
Hannah Merjil (Bakersfield, CA/Garces Memorial) has been the go-to in dishing out assists for the Miners, tallying 229 through the first nine matches.
On the defensive side,
Meiko Pearson (Overland Park, Kansas/Blue Valley Northwest) is leading the team with 108 digs and averaging 3.00 digs/set while
Kiernan O'Boyle (Kansas City, Mo./St. Teresa's Academy) and
Shelby Ply (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) have been a dominating force at the net with 31 and 28 blocks, respectively, and a combined 11 solo blocks thus far.
Indianapolis (5-5, 5-5 GLVC) is coming off a 3-1 loss to the Bulldogs of Truman State this past weekend that saw the Greyhounds offense struggle against Jewell's blockers. The Cardinals recorded 17 blocks against UIndy and forced them into 30 errors in the four-set match, despite putting down 57 kills.
Katie Furlong is leading the way with 95 kills this season with Emma Jones and Taylor Jacquay right behind her with 87 and 82 kills.
Quincy (9-3, 9-3 GLVC) collected their first ranked win of the season with a 3-2 win over, then 21
st ranked, Rockhurst University.
After getting swept in the opening match to the top-ranked Lewis, the Hawks held on for the five-set thriller. Quincy put down 72 kills in the win with Mattie Norris and Emily Rehagen, who are the Hawks leading scorers, both recording 18 kills.
