ROLLA, MO- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced
John Kean as a 2021 Hall of Fame Inductee. Kean currently serves as the Sports Information Director at Missouri S&T and has served in this role for more than 30 years.
Kean joined the Miner athletic department in 1990 and has been responsible for the athletic communications and promotions of 17 sports in the department. He has spent countless hours writing press releases, updating student-athlete statistics, managing the website and various social media platforms as well as numerous other responsibilities enhancing and sharing Miner athletics with the community. He has served in various roles at the conference, regional, and national level currently serving as a liaison to the National Basketball Coaches Association Division II men's basketball poll and maintaining the NCAA DII men's basketball website.

Melissa Ringhausen shared, "John has a passion for athletics and is committed to accurately publicizing the accomplishments of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff. He is a solid rock in the department and well-respected by his colleagues at S&T as well as many other coaches and administrators throughout the country. He is truly deserving of this honor."
In 2017-18, Kean was the recipient of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Dr. Thomas Kearns Service Award. This award is presented to an individual who has contributed to the success of the GLVC as it relates to the NCAA Division II Attributes of learning, balance, resourcefulness, sportsmanship, passion, and service.
At the national level, Kean served as President for Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) from 2015-18. Prior to becoming President, Kean served as Vice President and was a member of the D2SIDA board. While in that position, he attended four NCAA Conventions as the D-II representatives for a CoSIDA leadership team that met at the convention. Kean also served as vice-chair of the College Division Management Advisory Committee (CDMAC) for CoSIDA. He helped create and organize the professional development curriculum used at the convention during Division II Divisional Day programming and he played an integral role in updating the D2SIDA strategic communications document.
Kean has provided a significant amount of leadership and service to the S&T campus, the GLVC and its membership. He is often volunteering or assisting others to ensure athletic communication and game management is at its highest quality. Kean will be honored in a virtual ceremony at the CoSIDA Convention held in June 2021.
