INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T had its hands full Friday night with the second-ranked team in NCAA Division II and Indianapolis handed the Miners a 4-0 loss in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Key Stadium.
UIndy improved to 11-0-1 and 9-0-1 in the GLVC, while the Miners dropped to 5-7-1 and 4-6-1 in GLVC play.
The Greyhounds got on the board in the 13
th minute on a goal by Kendall Allen, then added a second goal in the first half when Michael Tselios scored on a penalty kick. UIndy extended its lead early in the second half on a tally by Alejandro Steinwascher, then Allen scored his second goal of the night to cap the scoring in the 59
th minute.
The Miners were outshot 19-8 in the game, including by an 8-2 margin in the first half.
Luan Barbosa (Curitiba, Brazil/Colegio SESI) had the only shot among the eight by S&T that was on goal.
Davis Joseph (Andover, KS/Andover Central) made two saves in goal for S&T over the first 63 minutes, while
Luke Mirly (Jackson, MO/Jackson), getting his first action of the season, made three saves over the final 27 minutes.
Missouri S&T will face Southern Indiana Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Evansville, Ind.
